Ordering Information

Asymptomatic screening for Mycoplasma genitalium is not recommended. This assay is validated for use on endocervical swab specimens, vaginal swab specimens, male urethral swab specimens collected using the Abbott multi-specimen collection kit. While urine samples are acceptable and provide optimal detection in males, vaginal samples offer greater sensitivity and are the preferred sample type for women. |
Collection Instructions
|
Use PCR collection kit for genital swabs and penile discharge. Inoculate the PCR tube by swirling the swab and then leaving it within the tube. Collection kits are avaiable from Specimen Collection (03 9496 5472). A DEDICATED sample is required but can be shared with C. Trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae and T. vaginalis if also requested. |
