This test detects Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA on gential swabs.
Neisseria gonorrhoeae susceptibility testing is important for public health purposes. Please collect a separate blue capped bacterial swab or eswab for MC&S.
In-house testing can only be performed on specimens collected via the Abbott multi-Collect Specimen Collection Kit. This includes genital swabs collected using this method, and sterile urine collections. All other testing is referred to VIDRL, please see: Neisseria Gonorrhoea PCR - VIDRL Sendout |

Collection Instructions
|
Use PCR collection kit for genital swabs and penile discharge (for genital swabs prefer endocervical or urethral but can also be performed on vaginal although not as sensitive). Inoculate the PCR tube by swirling swab and then leaving it within the tube. Collection kits are available from Specimen Collection.
A DEDICATED sample is required but can be shared with C. trachomatis, M.genitalium and T. vaginalis if also requested.
Gonorrhoeae PCR assay is not validated for swabs collected from non-genital sites. |
