This test detects Trichomonas vaginalis in genital swab specimens; female endocervical and vaginal swabs, and male urethral swab specimens. In-house testing can only be performed on specimens collected via the Abbott multi-Collect Specimen Collection Kit. All other testing is referred to VIDRL, please see Trichomonas PCR - VIDRL sendout.

Collection Instructions

Use PCR collection kit for genital swabs and penile discharge. Inoculate the PCR tube by swirling the swab and then leaving it within the tube. Collection kits are avaiable from Specimen Collection (03 9496 5472).

A DEDICATED sample is required but can be shared with C. Trachomatis, N. gonorrhoeae and M. genitalium if also requested.
