Enterovirus PCR

This test detects Enterovirus RNA.

Swabs (for example from rectum and eye): Viral swabs in viral transport media (VTM) or Green top swabs are preferred.

Serum, EDTA blood and Faeces.

This PCR is performed on CSF only after a review of the cell count and the clinical notes and MUST be registered using test code CSFPCR not ENVPCR.

If Enterovirus PCR is requested on a respiratory sample it MUST be registered using the test code RESPCR not ENVPCR.
