For the investigation of scoline apnoea.

Samples must be collected PRIOR to or at least 48 hours AFTER anaesthetic administration. This is because levels will be low in anyone for 2 days after suxemethonium administration.

If plasma level is low, patients can be offered Cholinesterase Genotyping.


Note: For the investigation of pesticide/organophosphate poisoning, order RED CELL (True) Cholinesterase.
