Ordering Information

This test is also known as globotriaosylsphingosine. It is ordered in the investigation of Fabry's Disease.

Collection Instructions
  • If patient is KNOWN to have Fabry Disease and test is being ordered for monitoring, please collect 1 x DEDICATED EDTA tube
  • If patient is NOT KNOWN to have Fabry Disease, please use the DBS kit. Patients will not be charged for this test if the DBS (Sanofi Genzyme) kit is used.
  • Kits may be obtained from Austin Hospital pathology collection centre.
  • If DBS (Sanofi Genzyme) (see below) kit is not available, collect on Guthrie card. When a kit is located, fill out details in kit as usual and include the Guthrie card taken.
  • Requesting doctor's address should be listed at "Austin Pathology, Level 6 Austin Hospital, Studley Rd. Heidelberg 3084"
  • Guthrie cards must be dried overnight before posting in envelope supplied.
