The Prothrombin Time (PT) is used to detect inherited or acquired defects of the extrinsic pathway of coagulation.
The INR should only be applied to patients receiving oral anticoagulant therapy and is not valid for any other clinical situations (RCPA manual 2019).
Collection Instructions
Citrate tubes must be completely filled in order to perform testing. The level of blood must be within the top and bottom borders of the black marker on the tubes.
