Collection Instructions
The MRSA eSwab kit may contain 1 white swab and either 1 or 2 red swabs in a tube of liquid medium. The kit can be used for sampling 2 or 3 sites, depending on how many swabs are in the kit.
  • Use the red swab/s to sample your site/s and twirl them into the liquid in the tube and dispose of the swab/s.
  • Use the white swab to sample the final site (this could be the second or third site depending on how many red swabs are in your kit) and place it in the tube. Break at the break point and screw the lid on tightly securing the swab inside. Do not tip out the liquid in the tube.
  • Label the tube with the patient details and the sites that were sampled.

  • The recommended sites to sample are nose, throat, axilla, groin or perineum.
  • If more than 2 sites are required but the kit only contained 2 swabs then use a second kit.
