A Full Blood Examination consists of:

  • Red Cell Count & Indices
  • Platelet Count
  • White Cell Count & 5 part differential


If an optical platelet count is required, approval is required from a Haematology Registrar or Consultant prior to sending away for testing.

Please collect 1 x 4 mL EDTA tube. 9mL EDTA tubes are NOT acceptable for Full Blood Examinations.
